Influence of Acidity and Alkalinity to Sodium Chloride Crystal Growth

Transparent sodium chloride crystal has the characteristics of environmental protection,stability,and so on.In addition,it is easy to obtain,to process,and to eliminate.Therefore,it has an important application in modern industry,laser,and medical treatment and so forth.In this paper,we studied the effect of pH on the growth of NaCl crystals by evaporation.The results show that the growth of NaCl crystal depends not only on the evaporation temperature but also on the pH value.Based on the experimental conditions for obtaining the best crystal,it is found that the alkaline environment is more beneficial to the growth of NaCl crystal.Meanwhile,the higher the evaporation temperature,the higher pH value is needed.At the present stage,the maximum size of the crystals grown can reach about 12.50 mm,and the volume is 360 mm3.
