Distribution features of lightning and comparative analysis of thunderstorm days in Wuhan

The temporal distribution features of lightning in Wuhan has been analysed on the basis of location data of Hubei lighthing monitoring and locating network from 2006 to 2008.To find out the differences between the two kinds of observation datas and the reason for the differences in the view of thunderstorm days,the contrast of the lightning location data and weather phenomenon observational data from Wuhan weather station has also been made.It can provide a reference for the automatic detection of lightning observation to replace artificial observation gradually.The results show that negative lightning is produced as high as 96.1% in most thunderstorms around Wuhan.The lightning activities have obvious monthly and dayly characteristics.The number of thunderstorm days of lightning location is generally higher than the results of artificial observation.In the month of high incidence of lightning,the differences between the two numbers are larger,but they have the same distribution trend on the whole.With the accumulation of lightning automatic detection,the limitation of artificial observation can be eliminated.
