The Mechanism of the Effect of Industrial Structure Tertiarization on the Growth Rate of Total Factor Productivity

Jiang Yonghong;Chen Aonan;
In recent years, the level of total factor productivity(TFP) in China has gradually declined, and the tertiarization of the industrial structure has become an important direction for today 's economic transformation. It has important implications for the change of TFP. We have studied the reason of slow down on TFP from the perspective of industrial structure tertiarization, and the result implies that TFP has declined by 27.6% due to the influence of industrial structure tertiarization from 2008 to 2016, besides, it also illustrates a significant region difference. Inefficiency in service industries, low efficiency of production factor resetting and regional differences in industrial structure are the main reasons for this phenomenon. Therefore, China should improve the accumulation and allocation of high-quality human capital in the service industry, strengthen regional cooperation in the service industry, increase the efficiency of the service industry, and improve the fiscal policy of "De-capacity".
