Skull Melting Process and Its Applications

Skull melting process is a technique suitable for the growth of high-temperature crystals by radio frequency(RF) heating the raw materials and forming a thin skull around the outside of the melt as a crucible.In this paper,the principle of the skull melting process was introduced and the progress in industrial growth of cubic zirconia crystals was reviewed.Other applications of the skull melting process are concerned,such as casting high temperature alloy,solidification of nuclear waste,polycrystalline silicon ingot.
