Mechanical Properties of Al_2O_3/Al Multilayer Ceramics

The multilayer ceramics were prepared by screen-printing method to brush Al slurry on Al2O3 slices and heat treated in oxidizing enviroment.The effects of the layers of Al2O3 slices and the heat treatment temperature on the bending strength,the fracture toughness,and the impact energy of the multilayer ceramics were investigated.Comparing with the multilayer ceramics prepared using AB glues,the bending strength and the fracture toughness of multilayer ceramics by Al slurry is more higher.The bending strength decrease with the layer number increasing,and achieve about 200-240 MPa when the multilayer ceramics heat treated at 700-750 ℃.The fracture toughness increase with the layer number increasing,and change little as the heat treatment temperature varies.
