Shape Control of CdSe Nanocrystals in Mono-solvent System

CdSe nanocrystals were synthesized by non-aqueous solution method in mono-solvent system of hexadecylamin(HDA) and di-n-octyl phthalate(DOP) respectively.Different shape of CdSe nanocrystals such as hexagonal quantum dots,multi-pod and nanorods were obtained by adjusting the addition rate of monomers and temperature.The as-prepared CdSe nanocrystals were characterized by TEM.It was found that the supersaturation of monomers could dramatically influence the shape of CdSe nanocrystals both in HDA and DOP.The increase of supersaturation could lead to the preferential growth in the direction of(001-) of wurtzite structure.To some extent the shape control strategy in HDA and DOP is different.High-quality CdSe nanocrystals can not be obtained at 200 ℃ or below.
