Study on Ni-TiN Nanocoatings Prepared by Multi-field Coupling Electrodeposition on the Surface of the Piston in Drilling Mud Pumps

Ni-TiN nanocoatings were deposited by multi-field coupling electrodeposition method on the the surface of the piston. Microstructure and wear-resisting properties of the nanocoatings were investigated by X-ray diffraction(XRD),atomic force microscope(AFM) and friction wear testing machine. XRD results indicate that there are nickel grains and TiN particles in the piston and the average grain sizes are65. 5 nm and 38. 6 nm,respectively,when the TiN concentration is 6 g /L. AFM results show that when the TiN concentration is 6 g /L,nickel grains in the nanocoating are mimimum,and the RMS is 44. 077 nm. The friction wear testing results present that when the TiN concentration is 6 g /L,the abrasion loss and friction coefficient are mimimum,and they are 34. 7 mg and 0. 44,respectively.
