Design of a Broad Omnidirectional Reflector in the Near-infrared Band

The omnidirectional reflectors based on one-dimensional photonic crystals were investigated.The effects on band-position and band-width of the omnidirectional reflection(ODR) band were analyzed by transmission matrix method. Based on the wide band gap theory, a near-infrared broadband omnidirectional reflector was designed with heterostructure photonic crystals. Compared heterostructures composed of Te /SiO2 with TiO2/SiO2,it is found that ODR band characteristics of the former is superior to the latter. The ODR band of TE polarized wave located in the near-infrared range of 1001-2999 nm;the ODR band of TM polarized wave located in the near-infrared range of 1001-2323 nm,and reflection rate obtained is more than 98%,while the number of the layers is just 20.
