Effect of Calcium Oxide and Yttrium Oxide as Sintering Aids on SiC Ceramic Properties

The effect of sintering temperature on microstructure,thermal properties and dielectric properties of ceramics was studied by using YOCl/Ca O as sintering agent to prepare Si C ceramics at atmospheric pressure.The results show that the YOCl and Ca O will react with Si C in the process of high temperature sintering,produce some of the yttrium compounds,compare the thermal expansion coefficients of each sample,and find that the pure Si C thermal expansion coefficient of YOCl/Ca O=4∶5 samples sintered under 1800℃and normal pressure sintering isα=4.0×10~(-6)is close,and the thermal expansion coefficient of other samples is close to theα=2.62×10~(-6)of monocrystalline silicon,which is expected to be a better package material.
