Preparation and Application of TiO_2-CeO_2 Counter Electrode

Ti O_2-Ce O_2counter electrodes by Sol-Gel method in dependence of the atomic ratios of Ti and Ce were prepared.X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscope(SEM),ultraviolet-visible absorption spectra(UV)and cyclic voltammetry characterization were used to explore their structure and performances.Results turned out that when the ratio of Ti and Ce is 1∶1,the counter electrode was amorphous with compact and smooth surface.During the ion implantation-extraction process,it showed fast electrochemical response and high charge capacity.Later,the Ti O_2-Ce O_2counter electrode was applied into all solid-state electrochromic devices,which obtained good performances.When the load voltage was 3.4 V,the transmittance variation at wavelength of 632.8 nm was 56.8%between the colored and the bleached states.
