Gas Convection in Crystal Growth by Czochralski Method

The degree of gas convection can be characterised by the Rayleigh number (Re)and the degree of heat-transfer by gas convection can be characterised by Nusselt number( Nu ) in the crystal growth of oxides by means of CZ method. Re, Nu and temperature gradient are calculated as a function of various gas and difference pressure in this paper.The hot grower is cooled by the gas convection. The temperature gradient is very large in the entrance of gas ,then rapidiy decrease and incline to constant. As the pressure of gas is increased and gases are changed according to the seguence of H_2 ,He, Ar and N_2 , the temperature gradient is increased and the drop of the temperature gradient is slow in the entrance of the gas. Suitable temperature gradient can be keeped by adjustment of the pressure of gas during process of crystal growth.
