Orientation and Competitive Growth of Single Crystal Copper by Continuous Casing

Orientation and competitive growth of single crystal copper in continuous casting have been investigated using home made horizontal continuous casting equipment and X ray diffraction(XRD).Experimental results show that the crystallization surfaces of (311),(200)and(111) are eliminated sequentially in evolutionary process.The final growth face of crystal is (200),the direction of crystallization is ,and the degree of deviation of direction from the crystal axis is less than 10°.The solid liquid interface appears a convex shape which is located in the inside of the mould during the continuous casting.The convex shape solid liquid interface is advantageous to get a better growth of crystal.It has been revealed that the orientation of the single crystal copper by continuous casting does not have the same direction but in a regular range.
