Numerical Simulation Study of Helical Seal on Water-lubricated Hydrostatic Bearings

Aimed at the problem of spindle end leakage on high-speed hydraulic spindle with water lubrication,a combined method which integrated the helical seal with other seal was proposed.The finite volume method was used in the three-dimensional numerical simulation of unsteady turbulent flow on the inner fluid field of the helical seal in different conditions.The result demonstrates that effective oil-soaked length decreases with the increase of spindle rotational speed.In this process,it appeares obvious cavitations.The influence of spindle eccentricity should be taken into account.
