Investigation and Simulation on Micro Topography of the Contact Surface of the Stator and Rotor for Ultrasonic Motors

The friction characteristics of the contact surface of the stator and rotor for a trivlling wave ultrasonic motor were investigated.The surface roughness,power spectrum function and fractal dimension of the stator and rotor surface were measured.The surface topography of the friction material surface was simulaed by the fractal geometry.The results show that the effect of surface characteristics of the friction material on the operation performance of motors can not be ignored and the copper surface is smooth,compared with the friction material surface.It is useful to analyze the micro mechanics characteristics of the contact surface for the stator and rotor and establish the contact model of ultrasonic motors.
