Numerical Simulation on Pressure Distribution and Face Leakage of Rotary Pressure Exchanger

Rotary pressure exchanger is a kind of fluid pressure energy recovery equipment based on the positive-displacement principle.The flow field of seal face under different face clearances and flux was simulated based on the Navier-Strokes equation and SIMPLEC method,the pressure distribution and face leakage were studied.The results show that face leakage does not related with rotating speed.The liquid film pressure is stable when the flow is laminar flow in the clearance.The seal performance deteriorates with clearance increasing.Once clearance is over 0.03 mm,the effective face seal could not be formed.
