Analysis on spatial-temporal evolution trend of water quality of Yangtze River Estuary in recent ten years

In order to understand the water quality variation in the estuary of Yangtze River,routine monitoring on TN and TP concentrations at six sections of Xuliujing,Shidongkou,Qidonggang,Nangang,Beigang and Wusongkou-downstream-23 km had been conducted for 13 years. The monitoring results showed that:(1) Before 2010,the seasonal concentration variation of nutrients at the six monitoring sections fluctuated largely,and entered a relatively stable stage after 2010,posing a decreasing trend year by year,which showed a positive effects since the implementation of the"three red lines"supervision system and the implementation of the governance programs in this region. TN and TP all showed the trend of reducing in seasonal fluctuation and yearly concentration.(2) Because of the tidal influence in the estuary,the TN and TP at various sections showed different levels of nutrient concentration,higher in wet season and lower in dry season,but the nutrient concentration difference between the wet and the dry season was gradually decreased.(3) The dry season of 2009 was the inflection point for TN variation with distance; before2009,the TN concentration between Xuliujing and Nangang posed a rising trend while Nangang and Beigang posed a downward trend; after 2009,the TN concentration between Xuliujing and Nangang posed a downward trend while Nangang and Beigang posed a rising trend. TP variation with distance was relatively stable,but with a small upward trend.
