Effect of aggregate physical properties on early age auto - shrinkage of ready - mixed concrete

The physical properties of aggregate have strong influence on the early age auto - shrinkage of harden ready - mixed concrete. In this paper, the effects of sand percentage, the grading of aggregate, maximum size of aggregate, flat and elongated particles in coarse aggregate, material finer than 75 in aggregate, shape index of grain and species of aggregate are discussed. The early age auto - shrinkage increases with the increment of the sand percentage, flat and elongated particles in coarse aggregate and the material finer than 75 in aggregate; but the early age auto - shrinkage decreases with the augment of the content of the bulky grain, maximum size of aggregate, the shape index of grain and the dynamic modulus of elasticity.
