Variation of Erosion and Deposition and Its Effects on Extension of the Yellow River Estuary

Li Zegang (Hydraulic Research Institute of YRCC, Zhengzhou, 450003)
The channel of estuary section has been maintained a good condition due to less coming water and sediment at the estuary and runoff and sediment of a year usually concentrate in the flood season, in addition to only one flow in Qingshuigou in 1980's. Besides the extension length of sedimentation, the factors that effected the river course are channel pattern, process of water and sediment and dredging. During a normal or dry year, the estuary can keep a good condition and partially eliminate the influence of siltation extension at estuary on the nearby section, as long as there are big peaks to scour in the flood season even though silting in the dry.
