On Sedimentation Problems with Xiaolangdi Reservoir

The Xiaolangdi Reservoir begun to impound water, which is subject to the release from its immediate upstream Sanmenxia Reservoir. Establishment of the former's operational schemes should be based on experience and lessons from the operations of Sanmenxia, Guanting, Bajiazui reservoirs, etc. It is suggested that more in depth study on excess sediment carrying capacity as well as discharging sediment through density flow be done. Problems of sediment regulation on a multi year basis should be addressed.
