Analysis on Characteristics of Rain and Water Regime of the Yellow River Basin in 2003

HUO Shi-qing, WANG Qing-zhai, LIU Long-qing, WU Hong-xia (Bureau of Hydrology of YRCC, Zhengzhou, Henan, 450004)  
The coming water in key regions (stations) in the Yellow River basin before June 2003 is 40%~70% less than the normal year, which is the minimum value since recording. While in the flood season, the rainfall in the majority regions of the Yellow River basin is continuously more than the normal, of which, the rainfall of Jinghe River, Weihe River and Sanmenxia-Huayuankou reach in July-October period is 70%~90% more than the normal, the coming water at Huaxian Station on the Weihe River, Heishiguan Station on the Yiluo River and Wuzhi Station on the Qinhe River in September-November period is 1 ~ 6 times more than the normal. On July 30, the maximum flood occurred at Fugu Station on the north main channel since the observed data. In the period from late August to early October, there are 6 floods continuously happened in the Weihe River and historical maximum flood level has been reached at Xianyang, Lintong and Huaxian. Some stations on the Yiluo River also have the maximum flood since the observed data. The river section of Xiaolangdi-Lijin has been eroded 180 million tons.
