Analysis on Morphology of Sedimentation of Liujiaxia Reservoir

GUO Jia-lin(Liujiaxia Hydroelectric Power Plant,Yongjing,Gansu 731600)  
The paper analyzes the sedimentation morphology during the initial stage,low water stage and high water stage of the operation of Liujiaxia Reservoir and reservoir section of Taohe River,reservoir sections of the Yellow River from No.3 to No.9-1 and sections in front dam from No.0 to No.3 in 1968-2005 period.The outcomes show that a) the main factor affecting the sedimentation of Taohe Reservoir area is the water level in flood season,no relationship with the incoming sediment and reducing the deposition of the reservoir section and reducing the elevation of sedimentation at silt arrester are the key factor to control the water level in flood season;b) the sedimentation morphology of the sections of the Yellow River from No.3 to No.9-1 also has greatly affected by the average water level of the flood season and the minimum level and no relationship with the incoming sediment of Taohe River and;c) the scour and fill in front dam mainly depend on the effect of density current desilting of the reservoir.The effective way for solving the sedimentation in front dam is to persist in density current desilting.
