Nonlinear FEM Analysis on Spiral Case Structure of Pumped Storage Hydropower Station

Through nonlinear FEM simulation with ANSYS software,calculations on keeping constant internal pressure spiral case and surrounding concrete were acted,reinforcement ratio in circumferential direction and flowing direction were decided,and also the width of concrete crack including reinforcement stress nearby the crack was computed.Based on the comparing analysis with three working conditions,some conclusions are drawn that the stress of spiral case is 45%-50% of its yield strength,concrete crack is obvious near the top and bottom of the spiral case from the inlet to downstream wall but little on other places,the integral rigidity of the structure is satisfied for operation.
