Temporal and Spatial Variation of Extreme Precipitation Indexes of the Yellow River Basin in Recent 50 Years

Spatial and temporal patterns of changes in extreme precipitation were investigated by 10 extreme precipitation indices based on 80 meteorological stations' data of 1957—2008 period in the Yellow River basin,with the help of simple liner regression method,Mann- Kendall trend and Rclim Dex software. The results show that except Rx5 DAY indicating significant negative trend and SDII revealing positive trend,the other eight indices display negative trend which are not significant. From the point of seasonal changes,Rx1 DAY and Rx5 DAY in summer and autumn have similar spatial features,the value of which is larger in spring and winter. It is learned that rainfall decreases year by year. All show that the trend of extreme precipitation indices are not significant and extreme precipitation events have difference in space and time in the Yellow River basin.
