Laws of Vegetation Distribution and Evolutionary Trend and Analysis of the Influencing Factors in Qaidam Basin

Vegetation is the main body of the terrestrial ecosystem,and it is the most active and sensitive factor in the natural ecological system,which can reflect the change of climate,water,soil and others. Qaidam Basin is located in arid area,and the ecological environment is fragile. So based on MODIS data,the characteristics of vegetation distribution and vegetation evolutionary trend in Qaidam Basin were analyzed. The results show that the vegetation coverage is low,and the area of barren or sparsely vegetated is large. From 2001 to 2012,the area of barren or sparsely vegetated decreases continuously. The linear regression analysis of NDVI shows that vegetation improves in most of the basin. Vegetation improvement is inseparable with the increscent of precipitation. In addition,the topography is an important factor which influences the spatial distribution of vegetation.
