Operation Mode of Ice-Flood Control During the Early Stage of Yellow River Haibowan Reservoir

Haibowan Reservoir is the first one developed on the Yellow River with main task of ice-flood control. During the initial stage of operation,the main purposes of ice-flood control are the regulating function during ice drifting and freezing period and the emergency ice flood protection in the period of ice breakup. Based on the new characteristics of the change of ice-flood control and river conveyance capacity of the Yellow River in Inner Mongolia reach in recent years,the ice-flood control operational mode were proposed which suitable for the initial stage of operation during ice drifting and freezing period,outflow could be calculated according to the average discharge of the first five days of Xiaheyan Station,commendatory emergency ice-flood control level was 1,075. 1m. During the period of ice breakup,emergency ice-flood operation could be applied according to the condition of released reservoir storage.
