A Foreseen Failure Owing to an Ineffective Guiding Principle——Discussion on the Deep-rooted Causes for the Collapse of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union

In the course of the study of the drastic change in the Soviet Union, people tend to ignore the logical relationship between the various factors, and to stress the gravity of some factor. One looks like very obvious problem maybe is one of factor but it can't be regarded as decisive. Among various factors, there must be one factor that its role is principal, key and decisive. The base of the Soviet Union has been relying upon the CCCP and the party's ideology for a long time, and be supported by the belief that the majority of party mem- bers and the people of all strata hold on to this ideology. Without the CCCP as the core of leadership, without Marxism-Leninism as the guiding ideology, how could the Soviet Union not change?
