A Transition from the Imperial Examination System to Market Economy——The Origins of Guan Ben Wei

Zhang Ming
Chinese ancient bureaucratic system was established in the Han Dynasty, and the centralization system was established during the Qin and Han Dynasties. The imperial examination system played the most important role in supporting the formation of Guan Ben Wei. On one hand, it helped strengthen the monarch centralization; and on the other, it ensured that the royal court constantly used talents from all over the country. But in today's Chinese society, the bureaucracy-dominant system has not been broken up yet, which is still troubling Chinese people and seriously hindering China's modernization process. Therefore it becomes imperative to adopt a reform.
