The Significance of "New Ecological Pattern" for China's Ecological Preservation
Zhang Jinrong;Shen Chen;
The "new ecological pattern" of environmental sociology stresses that although human invention and technological development may break through the limitation of natural carrying capacity in a certain period, the ecological law is unlikely to change as opposed to the human beings. Ecological Marxism believes that capitalism's view of science and technology is parochial, and should be deeply reviewed and criticized in response to the "exploitative" and "anti-ecological" science and technology concept of capitalism. In contemporary China, the influence of capitalist outlook on science and technology does exist. To achieve both economic and social development and environmental protection, we need to discard the current wrong outlook on science and technology, change the way of use of science and technology, encourage diversified science and technology, improve the efficiency of resource utilization, strengthen environmental protection awareness, and strive to promote the ecological progress.
