Novel Fabry-Pérot Sensing Structure

A Fabry-Pérot structure using wet etching and splicing technique is fabricated.A fiber optic tip is etched and spliced to another fiber optic.The F-P cavity is formed by splicing a fiber optic to another one with the etched tip.This bio-sensing structure introduces a novel biomaterial immobilization technique.The biomaterial like RNA is immobilized onto the cleaved optical fiber tip using UV cross-linking.By observing the differences of the interference spectrum and the images from SEM before and after immobilization,the results indicate that if the biomaterial has been successfully immobilized onto the fiber surface.
