Objective To study the therapeutic results of Epimedium preventing o-variectomy-induced osteoporosis in rats. After 4 weeks and 12 weeks, random execute 5 rats in 3 group. Take the lumbar 5th vetebra and make paraffin section, stain with HE and Van Gieson, analyse bone little beam structure with image analyst, and count multi-nuclei/osteoclast like-cells. Results Tendency group compare with control group, Tb. Th and Tr. Ar have obvious decreasing while Tb. Sp increasing. Trabecular bone in Epimedium group measure is similar to compare group. The number of multi-nuclei/osteoclast like-cells in tendency group is obviously more than 1 group and 3 group. Conclusion Epimedium can prevent efficiently the ovariectomy-induced osteoporosis.
