Applied Anatomy and Clinical Significance of the Inguinal Triangl e

Objective To provide anatomical data for anatomy and clinical application. Methods The inguinal ligament,the later al border of the rectus abdominis,the origin,course, the obturator branch of th e inferior epigastric artery and the boundary of the inguinal triangle were inve stigated in both sides in 51 adults Chinese cadaver (men 41, women 10).The origi n diameter of the inferior epigastric artery and the boundary of the inguinal tr iangle were measured. Results The inguinal triangle a-b distance w as 5.43±1.29cm and 4.99±1.23cm for man with woman, respectively. b-c distan ce was 6.98±1.35cm and 6.25±1.0cm for men with woman,respectively. c-a distan ce was 5.03±0.73cm and 4.82±0.59cm for man with woman,respectively. Men and wo men with account: a-b, b-c and c-a distance were 5.35±1.3cm,6.84±1.34cm an d 4.99±0.71cm,respectively. The origin outer diameter of inferior epigastric ar tery was 0.24±0.04cm;the original points above inguinal ligament occupies 59.41 %, being 1.06±0.06cm in the distance from the inguinal ligament. The incidence and the diameter of the abnormal obturator artery were 14.85% and 0.23±0.08cm,r espectively.Conclusion The borders of the inguinal triangle do not difference for sex with sides(p0.05). Three points bound the projection of th e inguinal triangle with one plan in the abdomen. The outer diameter and the len gth of the inferior epigastric 3artery are large enough for coronary bypss. The incidence of the abnormal obturator artery is higher and its diameter is close b y with the inferior epigastric artery,and is hurt during the period of surgical operation for femoral herniations.
