Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition and Cancer Metastasis:a review and an update

Epithelial-Mesenchymal Transition(EMT),as a concept coming from the developmental biology,indicates that the phenotype changes from a epithelial cell to a mesenchymal-like cell.Recently,a link between EMT and cancer metastasis became a hot point in cancer researches.In this review,we discuss the basic concept and mechanism of the EMT in cancer metastasis,as well as results from recent studies that demonstrate that biomechanical factors involving in EMT during solid human tumour metastasis have some research values.
