Changes of the p53 Gene Expression in Hemi-transected Spinal Cord

The change of p53 gne expression in subactute stage after injury in the spinal cord is awaiting to be elucidated.The present study is aim to investigate the expressional change of p53 gene in the spinal cord in rats with hemisected cord injury,by using quantitative polymerase chin reaction.The results showed compared with sham operated rats(n=6),rats with hSCI(n=6) exhibited a greatly decrease on the level of p53 mRNA in the spinal cord(P0.05).This finding suggested that p53 may involve in the injury and recovery of spinal cord following lesion.
