LEAVES OF DIFFERENT MULBERRY VARIETIES GROWING UNDER DIFFERENTSTANDING CONDITIONS AS DIET FOR SILKWORMS AT 5TH INSTAR ANDEFFICIENCY

According to the amount of ingestion,the 5th instar of the silkworm might be divided into three stages, i. e. early, middle, and late. The amounts of ingestion and digestion were less, digestibility and narrow-sense dietary efficiency higher, and growth rate of silkworm body faster at early stage than at mid-stage. The mulberry variety Huanglu had lower digestibility and dietary efficiency and worse economical characters than Mengyin Heilu. The dietary efficiency of Hu-32 grown at field edge was higher than that of Hu-32 grown in special field because of the border dominance. In special mulberry field, Shinichinose had better economical characters than Hu-32.
