SYNTHESIS MAGNETISM AND ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF BINUCLEAR COPPER(Ⅱ)-NICKEL(Ⅱ) COMPLEXES BRIDGED BY OXAMIDATE

Three novel μ-oxamido heterobinuclear complexes [Cu (oxpn)Ni (Me2bpy)2](ClO4)2, where oxpn denotes the N, N’- bis (3 -aminopropyl) oxamido and L denotes 4, 4’-dimethyl - 2,2’-bipyridine (Me2bpy ) 3 1, 10-phenanthroline (phen) and 5 -nitro-1, 10-phenanthroline (NO2-phen),have been synthesized and characterized. The variable- temperature magnetic susceptibility of [Cu (oxpn )Ni (Me2bpy )2] (ClO4 )2 was measured over the 4-300K and the susceptibility date were least-squares fit to the susceptibility equation derived from the spin Hamiltonian operator H= 2JS1·S2. The exchange integral J was found to be -98. 6 cm-1, indicating that antiferromagnetic spin -exchang interaction operates between Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) ions. The antibacterial activity of the complexes were also examined. Experiments shows that antibacterial activity of complexes is superior to ligand.
