AN INVESTIGATION ON AN OUTBREAK OF MUMPS IN A KINDERGARTEN AND IT'S 13-YEAR MORBIDITY

This article reports an outbreak of mumps at a kindergarten in 1993. The epidemic features are shown as follows:①The outbreak with three high peaks maninly occurred in summer.lasting for 2. 5 monthes and the attack rate being 15.6% (49/315).②most of patients were concentrated in two younger children classes,amounting to 79.6% of the total and the cause of cased clustered was discussed;③most cases were among the 4-and 5-year kids, being 65.3%and 28.6% respectively;④the attack rate of non-typical patients of mumps was 9.2%;⑤The data,a change of morbidity of this disease for 13years,showed that there have been three major outbreaks of mumps in this kindergarten,the epidemic cycle being about 4~5years.
