Biological basis of specifical analgesia effect following fatty strap structure acupunctured in rats

Objective:To study the biological basis of specifical analgesia effect by acupuncturing fat-stripe-like structure in rats.Methods:Tsu san li(st 36)was acupunctured on the fatty strap structue along the Stomach Meridians in rats,and another two points(A1,A2)beside st 36 were selected to be acupunctured as control.The rats were killed by dissecting head after acupunctured,and the fatty strap structures were enucleated and homogenated.Radioimmunology assay was applied to determine the contents of β-endorphin(β-EP),Dynorphin A(DynA),substance P(SP)in samples.Results:Unpaired t-test anylasis showed β-EP level was differently higher following st36 acupunctured than A1,A2(19.08±7.42 versus 2.27±1.99;t=5.5374,P0.01),DynA was significantly higher following st36 acupunctured than A1,A2(23.08±8.61 versus 2.19±1.81;t=5.8194,P0.01),but the difference betweent st36 and A1,A2 acupunctured did not reach the statistical significance(1.57±0.49 versus 1.05±0.60;t=1.6330,P0.05).Conclusions:Specifical analgesia effect substances β-EP and DynA increase in fatty strap structure along the Stomach Meridians following st 36 acupunctured in rats.
