Design of Robust Smith Predictor for Diesel EGR Based on UEGO

On the foundation of the EGR system model, a digital controller for the EGR system is designed using frequency-domain technique. Since the model includes time delay, a Smith predictor control scheme is used. Engine tests show that the Smith predictor can control the air-fuel ratio in an accurate range and it is robust when the model parameters change.
