The Application of Color-map Representation of Information Based on Wavelet Packets Energy in Automobile Transmission Condition Monitoring

Based on the analysis of energy feature of vibration signal, a signal feature representation method based on the energy spectrum of wavelet packets is proposed, which represent the signal feature through computing the energy of the wavelet packets decomposition, and this method is effective in compressing the vibration signal to be a vector. For the visualization of the vector, the vector is further represented by pixels, and a color-map represent is capable of representing a large amount condition at different time. This method is applied in the feature representation of an automobile transmission for condition, and the transmission feature at different time is represented as a color-map, which shows the transmission condition evolution clearly and effectively in condition monitoring.
