Collaborative Optimization of Ride Comfort and Handling Stability for a Heavy Off-road Vehicle

In order to improve the ride comfort and handling stability of a heavy off-road vehicle, the vehicle model was established by using multi-body dynamics simulation software ADAMS/Car. The corresponding mathematic model of collaborative optimization was built using comprehensive evaluation indexes including three handling stability and one ride comfort evaluation as the objective function, and suspension shock absorbers damping and leaf spring stiffness as the design variable. Appropriate weights were given to the regression model fitting by response surface method, and NSGA-II optimization algorithm was used to optimize the suspension parameters. Optimization result of suspension shows that ride comfort and handling stability of the vehicle are improved obviously.
