Research on Performance of Ring-fan Shroud

Aiming at the problems of large back flow and low fan efficiency of fan used in ISG hybrid truck, a new shroud of the ring fan is proposed to reduce the back flow of the ring fan, thus increasing the heat dissipation capacity of the cooling system. Based on the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) software, a three-dimensional numerical model of the vehicle cooling system is established to determine the influence of different tip clearances on the back flow of the fan. The results show that compared with the U-type shroud, the improved shroud of the ring fan increases the effective air flow by 6.7%, the air flow utilization by 10% and the system cooling capability by more than 2.5%.
