Research on Enhancement Coefficient for Fatigue Reliability Evaluation of Automotive Gears

The manual transmission of a certain SUV is employed as research object, and the load spectrums of its gears exposed to ordinary road, enhanced road, mountain road and high way road are sampled. The distribution function of load spectrums is obtained by means of rain-flow counting method and statistical theory. A method of load spectrum compilation suitable for fatigue reliability evaluation of gears is presented and the load spectrum is applied on the multibody dynamic model of transmission in order to compute the stress of key nodes. The damage of gears under all sampled load spectrums is calculated using Miner linear accumulated fatigue damage theory.Enhancement coefficients of each road and transmission test bench are obtained by comparing damage with ordinary road. This paper provides a theoretical evidence for automotive reliability testing and proving ground designing.
