Hydraulic excavator working device as the most important part of excavator, its performance directly affects the working performance and reliability of the excavator, and the working device of excavator accounts for a large proportion of the whole machine mass. On the premise of guaranteeing stiffness, strength, and stability requirements of the working device, a study on lightweight of excavator working device is necessary. Through structure analysis and optimization of the hydraulic excavator arm,analyze the strength and stiffness of arm and determine if there is room for lightweight design of the arm. The arm lightweight design method is put forward, which has a guiding significance for lightweight design of construction machinery.
