Thermal Stress Analysis and Composition Optimization for Porcelain-fused to Metal with the Structure of Functionally Gradient Material

The porcelain-fused to metal (PFM) referring to nickel-chromium alloy with composition gradient structure was prepared by adding Ni、Cr、NiO and Cr2O3 in different proportion to the porcelain powder mainly constituted by leucite. Influence of the composition gradient on the strength of the PFM with gradient structure was investigated by means of the thermal stress simulation with double nested model and the measurement of bending strength. The results indicate that the sample with the ratio of NiO∶Cr2O3∶Ni∶Cr being 25%∶25%∶25%∶25% possess the highest bending strength and for the sample with the positive slope of the thermal stress curve, the smaller the slope is, the higher the bending strength is.
