Effects of Inspiratory Muscle Strength Training on VO_2peak in University Students

To discuss whether the inspiratory muscle strength training may affect the value of VO2peak determined with the subjective feeling criterion.The dynamic changes of VO2peak value and exercise performance were measured and evaluated by Master Screen CPX ergospirometry testing device during the four weeks of inspiratory muscle strength training(80% MIP used as training load,30 times / 30 min / d,5 d / week,a total of 20 training periods).Results showed that with the accumulation of inspiratory muscle training period,the inspiratory muscle strength(MIP),GXT duration and the maximum load value,the absolute and relative VO2peak values were statistically significant increased(P0.01).Meanwhile the values of RPE had no statistically significant difference(P0.05);there was no significant change in the control group(P0.05).The 4-week inspiratory muscle strength training can significantly increase the value of VO2 peak,as well as increasing exercise performance of GXT.
