Appetite for food and appetite for sex are two of the major human instincts It was not until the Spring and Autumn Period that their division in theory became a habit by the civilized man Using archaeological materials and Book of Odes,this article tries to prove that“the appetite for food and sex as an integral whole” had been one of ancient China's basic customs from not later than the Yangshao Culture Period about 6000 years ago all along to the East Zhou Period,thus revealing from one aspect some features of the Chinese procreative culture
