A QUANTITATIVE STUDY OF PARASITIC MITES OF RODENTS COLLECTED FROM JINAN SHANDONG
Fu Rongshu (Department of Biology)
A quantitative study of parasitic mites of rodents collected from Jinan district is conducted: (1) The Quantitative Index (number of mites/number of rodents)based on the specimens collected from different geographic environments are calculated. The differences are conspicuous. (2) A study of the Index of Specificity, shows that A. agraius is the species-specific host of L.pavlovskyi. C. triton is the species-specific host of H. musculi, H. criceti, H. triangularis, and A. singularis. The specificity of parasites to different sexes of host is not evident. (3) Analysis through measurements of Sorensen's Index, Mountford's Index and Pearson's Index shows that the parasites and their hosts are closely correlated with their geographic environments.
