From Export-Oriented to Domestic-Demand Dominant: Reflections and Transformations of China's Economic Development Strategy

KONG Xiang-min (Journal of the School of CPC Jinan Municipal Committee, Jinan 250014, P.R.China)
The Export-oriented strategy is effective in the fast developing stage of one country's or a region's economy, but it is constrained by the time. As a country with high economic potential, China should adopt an independent development strategy. However, at present time, the export-oriented economic development strategy, which has been implemented for years, is confronted with g more and more internal resistance as well as that from abroad, for which China has paid an increasingly high cost for economic development. In order to keep sustainable development of our economy, a strategy of domestic-demand dominance rather than an export-oriented one should be adopted in order to shift impetus of economic development from abroad to domestic market.
