Optimized arrangement of fault-monitor sensors of water supply network by improved genetic algorithm

To design locations of pressure-monitor sensors for fault diagnosis of water supply network,the sensitivity of water pressure at sensor locations to leakage at possible faults was analyzed,and its influences on fault extent and fault diagnosis results were studied.A model of sensor location optimization was developed,and through an analysis of signals sampled at certain selected locations it can ensure effective judgment of leakage occurrence and determination of leakage's extent and location.A solution method to the model was developed using genetic algorithm of integer coding,particularly,a new improved algorithm for combinational optimization of sensor locations,which avoids the code duplication problem of standard genetic algorithm in genetic operation.
