Synthesis of Cyclopentaylindenyl Rare Earth Amide (1-C_5H_9C_9H_6)_2YN(SiMe_3)_2

The reaction of Li(1-C_5H_9C_9H_6) and anhydrous YCl_3 in 2:1 molar ratio in THF gives the anionic complex (1-C_5H_9C_9H_6)_2Y(μ-Cl)_2Li(THF)_2 which is characterized by elemental analysis and IR. Cyclopentaylindenyl rare earth amide (1-C_5H_9C_9H_6)_2YN(SiMe_3)_2 is successfully synthesized by the reaction of (C_5H_9C_9H_6)_2Y(μ-Cl)_2Li(THF)_2 with LiN(SiMe_3)_2 and characterized by elemental analysis and 1H NMR. It is the first substituted-indenyl rare earth amide.
